Course Description
COMM 222 is a core course in the JMSB program that presents students with various organizational behavior theories.
These theories primarily relate to the relationship between employers and employees, as well as between employees themselves. The class covers topics like motivation, teamwork, learning, leadership, conflict, ethics and more.
To do well, students therefore to be familiar with core theories and concepts such as social cognitive theory, primacy and recency, stereotyping, job satisfaction, expectancy theory, equity theory, the job characteristics model, social loafing, organizational socialization, House’s path-goal theory, and more.
In turn, the course applies these different theories to real-world situations.
Evaluations take the form of exams featuring multiple choice and case-style questions, as well as group projects, assignments and class participation.
Multiple choice questions test students understanding of the theories themselves and their ability to identify them, while case questions test how students can apply these theories to different situations that are presented
