COMM 223 is a core course is the JMSB program that teaches the fundamentals of marketing management. The class stresses core concepts in the field and their application. 

To that end, the concepts covered in COMM 223 relate to segmenting and targeting, sales, marketing research, as well as the 4 P’s – product, place, price, and promotion. Students are expected to know the different ways companies determine and select their target markets, how unique selling points and points of differentiation are developed and communicated, and how marketing plans come together in a coordinated, unified way through integrated marketing communications.  

COMM 223 exams aim to determine how well students can apply these concepts to real world examples through case and multiple-choice questions. Success therefore depends on knowing which theories and topics will be covered, quickly identifying the theory or model that needs to be applied for the given question, and successfully applying it given the context of the question.

N.B.  MARK 201 is the version of the course available outside of the JMSB core courses and is offered by the marketing department. MARK 201 tutoring is therefore also available.
